When you create a prism, then change the object type to sphere from the drop down in the object window (so you don't have to delete and recreate...), you get a torus.

Hmm, seems like you've cought one of those ugly little geometry bugs that plagues manual-prim-type selection. I remember alot of this happening during the beta days. It was always safer to initially select the prim type you want, although alot less convinant. Around version 0.7 LL implimented a bad-geometry auto-deleter... that seemed to bug alot of people, since their objects could spontaniously dissappear right under their noses (and theyd loose all that object's contents). Either LL removed that functionality, or this is an uncaught BadGeometryException  ==Chris

I have created some "interesting" prims this way - starting with one type and switching types a few times... paranoia sets in and I delete them... afraid of what may happen, releasing these mutants into the world.
