Quick question for anyone out there who might have experienced this (or something different.) I gave my sister a SL electronic coupon; she put it in, then a week later it asked her for billing information and whatnot, and at the end it said that her credit card had been billed. But I thought MY credit card was billed, for her electronic coupon? Is the comment about her credit card being billed inaccurate? Or has she been charged twice?

Unfortunately SL gift vouchers seem to be a bit of a joke... they are on sale but simply not ready to be implemented imo.

I bought one the other day for a friend to reinstate their account under 1.2... except you cant use them for existing accounts, and it charged HIS credit card for trying to reinstate it.

I wrote to the Lindens and got an extremely unhelpful reply to the effect that it could only be used on new accounts, and oh yes, of course his credit card was charged.

However, I set up a new account with said friend to test this theory and still couldn't find a way to redeem the voucher.

It would help if there were ANY details on how to redeem it in the email you get sent, but there aren't. It's a pretty pathetic implementation altogether, really.

So I have been charged for the voucher I can't use, he has been charged on his own credit card for something that was supposed to be a gift, and it looks like, despite the fact this is NOT mentioned anywhere, he couldn't have used it for what I bought it for.. .to reinstate his account.

And to boot, from their replies (to me... they didnt even bother to reply to him...) the Lindens obviously don't care. They certainly don't care that both of us have lost money, or that he cannot play SL. Most disappointed in LL right now.

I'm just confused because the site did say that my sister's credit card was billed... but a week before when she began her new account she was asked to input the coupon code right from the start. I wish it just took the coupon code and said, "Okay, you're a one-time paying member" as she initially set it up. I bought another coupon for another friend who has not set up an account. Can I get any kind of clarification on this coupon setup so that I can either use the coupon properly next time, get a refund for the coupons I've purchased, or hear that the credit cards are not being billed after the coupons have been used?

I'm very sorry for the problems you're having. You're right -- we implemented this very quickly, trying to make Christmas. If you've had problems, have been double-billed or the wrong credit card billed, please send a mail to support@secondlife.com and we'll help you out as quickly as we can.

Thanks for your patience.

Erm, thats what I did, Robin. As did the person I was gifting the certificate to.

I don't have the exact reply to hand, but in reply to my requesting that LL ensures my friends credit card is not billed and that the voucher be used instead, it was basically 'well actually it probably was charged.'

I know for a fact there was no offer of help, no solution put forward and no intention of further action. Just a blunt 'yeah we know' kind of thing.

And you never replied to my friend at all.

Well anyway, right now he can get in. But we don't know if thats by redeeming the voucher, via the incorrectly debitted card or what. I guess we will see and go another round with support if it isn't correct.
