Streaming media problems

Hi
I've bought a couple TV's which I couldn't get to work, unfortunately the only help the store says is "Follow the instructions" which I did, but only end up with what appears to be only a generic white wood prim :(

Last night I bought a radio and followed the instructions: Rezzed it on my floor and unlike the TV's I actually get the HUD and select stations but it doesn't play.

I'm the owner of my land (Lease) in the Alicia region, and I hear other sounds like wind chimes, doors closing etc and even hear the radio playing on other sims and see the video in the store's TV's.

I have all the media boxes checked in my preferences including for the stream to start automatically, all volumes are max.

I'm only a few weeks old and still learning SL, and not sure where to look to solve the issue. Could it be the region I'm in? Is there a setting or something the leaser of my property neeeds to set?

Thanks in advance.

Unless you own mainland, then you don't really own your land. It's set to a group. You need to set the items to whatever group tag the land is at, then deed the items to that group. It will lose ownership on you. So make sure you have it where you want it to go before doing this. You can return it to your inventory by using the return to owner, but i don't think you can pick it up when deeded.

As for native sounds like doors and chimes, those sounds are actually in the prims. They are not streamed, it's totally different.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'll try that tonight. I assume that I Right click and select groups and assign it from there?

Well most likely it is set to the group you use, or it would just get returned. I am not sure where the deed is, it used to be on the first edit menu. I have never really used it myself, just in sims I set up for people.
