I'm wonderint to buy a netbook for my mobile-work. Was wonder if SL could run on netbook.
Anyone ever try this before? ?

The spec of the netbook is
Atom N280,
2GB DDR2,
250GB HDD,
WiFi,
Bluetooth,
VGA NVIDIA Ion,
11.6" WXGA,
Win 7 Starter

Thank you again for your reply :)

Unfortunately both the processor and graphics card fall far under the requirements.

It will run. But likely the world will never load, you will get 0.2 FPS and will be unable to do anything.

Try Boy Lane's Rainbow viewer for netbook, make sure you follow the directions. I don't know how well it works...but I know I use Boy Lane's Rainbow regular viewer and it rocks :).

That's higher specs than my Mac Mini G4, and that got a whole 5FPS at times!

Side question: why the hell do they spec screens using terms like "WXGA" instead of "1024x666" or whatever that is?

That's probably going to be as good as it gets for a netbook. At least it doesn't have the dreadful Intel graphics adapter.

Don't expect miracles from any netbook. They are not high performance computers.

Because it obfuscates the resolution, preventing you from knowing whether it's "crap" or "even worse crap" or "barely readable."

That's a pretty good netbook that should run SL in a usable fashion. The Nvidia ION graphics is basically a 9400 GPU and way better than the Intel graphics in most other models.

However looking at current prices for ION netbooks and "normal" dual core notebooks I would certainly choose the latter.
