Forum Threads marked as updated?

I'm looking for the method to read new forum messages and get them marked read.

Example: At the moment, I'm caught up on almost every category. However, while getting caught up, a couple people have posted.

It seemed like the icons were changing from yellow to blue (indication things were read) but for a couple of them it doesn't update (in this case, one topic from Nada about AGP not working and one topic from myself.... the icons stay yellow and refuse to turn blue (here in Technical)

Oh, silly preference to not want to click the 'Mark All Threads as Read' link... I'd rather have it update after I read them without doing what seems like an extra step.
