Hello SL Experts,
I'm stuck on a tough one here. I am running the latest version of SL. My SL was working great right yesterday. I come home today and now SL won't even start up. I clicked my SL icon to start it up, and it immediately goes to the "Checking Hardware Configuration" (just like it always does). But, then it immediately goes to the SL crash report and from there pops up the WINDOWS error (crash) report and it doesn't let me do anything.
I completely uninstalled SL (including cleaning it from my registry) and even did a system restore. Then, I did a fresh download of SL and re-installed it. Still the same problem. So, I can't even get in to SL as the program won't even open up for me... just crash reports.
Oh yeah.. helpful info: I'm running
WIndows XP
GForce FX 5200
Like I said... everything was working fine until out of the blue today... nothing.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Check to see if your firewall is blocking it. Also, an easy thing to do.............reboot your router and/or modem.

When you uninstalled SL and cleaned up your system, have you also deleted the User Folder like "C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Username\Anwendungsdaten\SecondLife"? (sorry is the german version, in english it could be like "C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application\SecondLife"

Hi and thanks for the input.
I have checked the firewall... that's not the problem.
I had already tried rebooting my router and modem... that didn't help either.
And, yes, I had removed ALL the files, folders and other extraneous data relating to SL before I reinstalled it....
all of this to no avail. It still won't start up.
Just as a note.. part of the problem seems to be ever since SL added that stupid auto-crash logger. Something in it is creating a double-error because when it pops up, that's when the windows error report pops up. In reading the error data, it specifically mentions the SL crash logger. Now.. why the crash logger is coming up before anything even gets started is beyond me. I think this is all something in the SL program.
Any other ideas perhaps?

You might have a video driver problem. Check nVidia's website for a newer driver for your card. If you find one then save it to your hard drive instead of using any autoinstall feature the website has. Uninstall all older drivers you might have then install the new one.
If you don't find one any newer download it anyway......your current driver may be corrupted and no good.
