I have a new computer coming soon and I want to make sure the video card will work with SL. This is the info I have on it.

OK.... so far everyone I speak to is complaining that the new client is pretty bad. Anyone else having issues with it?

GIGABYTE GV-R485ZL-512H Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 Technically, that card will work. But you should be aware that ATI hardware and drivers don't tend to get along too well with SL. ATI refuses to follow certain OpenGL standards, so their stuff is always slightly incompatible with SL. nVidia is much more SL-friendly. From: Shayna Korobase OK.... so far everyone I speak to is complaining that the new client is pretty bad. Anyone else having issues with it? If you mean the current 1.22 main viewer, I've had no problems with it to speak of. If you mean the 1.23 release candidate, I've been noticing some quirky rendering glitches with it. Text displays improperly for me, and LOD culling behavior is downright nonsensical. I'm not getting any lower FPS in it than in the main viewer, though.

Thanks Chosen... I was actually "forced" to download the 1.23 and now I am hating life. Everything is lagged out and textures taking forever to render. Is there a way to go back to 1.22?

Here's how it works. When a release candidate becomes a main viewer, the next viewer in line behind it becomes the current release candidate. The only way you would have been "forced" to upgrade to 1.23 is if you were still trying to use the 1.22 RC after it went main. Since 1.22 is now the main viewer, it no longer exists as an RC.
If you want to go back to 1.22, just grab the current main viewer from the downloads page. It IS 1.22.
