the last couple days i haven't been able to get SL to work. every time i log on, right after its done with all the progress bar loading the game freezes up. theres nothing i can do.

i reinstalled SL, but that didn't help. i have no clue what it could be. this was all of a sudden. any one have any clue? any idea? i can't play. :( :( :(

This is just a SWAG Ope, but if you are behind a firewall, I know SL uses a range of IP's. Maybe the main IP changed and your firewall is blocking it.

I know, pretty lame but worth a shot.

Lately i've been freezing too, but i had thought it was just me personally cause i'm running Windows 98 or it was a problem with my 'no fan' on the graphic card hehe

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm pretty sure its not the video card cuz I ran BF1942 just to check it and it worked fine. And I'm only behind a software firewall. Not sure if thats the issue. Linden support is on the case. If we figure it out and its not something incredibly obvious like my computer's not plugged in then i'll post what happened up here. :)

ok it WAS the video card. I just tried BF1942 again and this time I turned up all the details and it gave me the same problem as SL. Apparently it was overheating. Lesson learned. I need another fan. :)

Thank you so much Ope!

I had the same freezing problem. I looked through my case window & sure enough my video card fan also had it 's last day. Plopped in a new video card fan - and everything is running just fine!

Thanks for the post Ope, it was very helpful!
