A Handy Bit of Confusion?

I just discovered this today. I have a Sim Trivia Event today at 4pm, so I been looking at the world map a lot researching the questions. I just found my event star on the map in Dore and noticed it says the event is at 6pm. If you click on an event star with the map, it will tell you what and when. I double check the event schedule and it says the correct time of 4pm.

Well, 6pm is the true time for me, since I am in Central Time Zone. The only thing I can think of about this is that the world map is in sync with the offset time you set for yourself in the forums? I have mine set -6 GMT to reflect the actual time for me in the forums.

I never really noticed this before. Is it a bug or a feature? I see how by showing your local time on the map could help you out as far as getting times straight, but it is a bit confusing to have the times conflict on the map and the event schedule. Are these times different for others?

I noticed the same thing a month or two ago... it confused me a lot at first until I realised that the times on the map stars were GMT (my time). It's definately handy now that i know why the times are different... but it was definately confusing at first!

I think it must be something to do with the forum times. I've also noticed on the event schedule when it goes past midnight here (UK), but is still the evening of the day before in PST... the schedule messes up... showing all the events a day off. I assume that is tied in to the map stars/forum time also.

It's a feature - and a useful one!

It's an undocumented and buggy feature, considering any events that are cancelled tend to leave their star on the map anywho.

Or they did a few builds back, at least.

And not all events get stars on the map. Does anyone know why?
