While I went idle tonight, I came back to find all the sims red. I play in windoweded mode, so, I pressed the X at the top right and SL closed. I reopened SL and I was unable to login, I recieveed the error:

"Something Bad Has Happened. Despite our best efforts, something unexpected has gone wrong. You should file a bug report with us, and include your secondlife.log file. Sorry it didn't work out."

Anyone know how I can fix this? I have already reinstalled twice, to many different folders, as well as rebooted. I don't know how this happened but I really miss SL!.

It could be your video card drivers are messed up, as that's what happened to me....I did a rollback, reinstalled SL, and was fine again. Worth a shot, anyhow...just try rolling back to like a week ago ("System Restore";).

Sorry to spam this thread with usless chatter, but I have to say, that is the third best error message ever.
(Number 2# is linux's "printer on fire?" and Number #1 is also linux: "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!!! Kernel Panic!";)

Clarification of bug
04-09-2003 15:19
Hey, just for some clarification on this bug:

Based on our investigation of James' login problems (and thanks to Kensuke Leviathan's post), we've discovered an issue in our login process which can happen if your system clock is incorrect - the secure protocol that we're using can return an error code if your system clock is too far out of sync with ours - meaning days/months, not hours (I think). Setting your system clock back in time may actually RESULT in the inability to log in.

There may also be other issues which cause the inability to log in that we don't know of, but this particular one is the most likely to cause issues.

I believe what James is referring to is Windows XP's system restore feature, which does not change your system time, but restores the state of various drivers and files to a previous state.
