I'm not sure this is a "bug" per say, but it don't seem right.

If you have two prims put together (like a floor), and there is the slightest difference in the Z location (so there is a little lip), your avatar will go FLYing for sometimes 10+ meters if you hit it at a run. Sure I understand a big lip, but we're talking a barely visible measure.

I understand bounding boxes and such, but it really seems that an avatar should be able to "pick up their feet" when they walk/run, so to speak, to move gracefully over such small obstacles.

Stairs also seem to be much more problematic. The stairs on my house, for example, which have been there for at least a year, never gave me any problems. Now, I can't walk up them, I just keep going bump crash bump.

Argh. Must we live in a world of smooth ramps and perfectly flat floors?

Thats actually been happening for a month or 2. I've only had it happen when I'm running.

i believe this may be happening because of the way the physics engine interprets our avatars. To it, we are simply cubes with a special AGENT tag :D

When we push the fwd arrow key on the keyboard, the physics engine applies a constant impulse to the 'avatar cube'. Walking up the stairs isnt very cumbersome for the physics engine, but due to some odd property of Havok energy, when we run, and hit an incline, that slignt pause in the movement of our avatars (when we're still holding down the fwd key) makes energy build, therefore causes the avatar to go flying forward once it reaches the top of the stairs. This little energy glitch isnt noticable in walk mode since the physics engine applys less energy.

Workaround: Switch to walk mode before you climb the stairs :)

Still, this bug is a bit of an annoyance.

The issue is, our "bounding boxes" now appear to be more relevant then they used to be. I literally can not walk up stairs anymore that I have not changed for over a year.

I was in the welcome area in Ahern yesterday, and saw a number of people crash into the walkway as they tried to move from the grass onto it. This involves "stepping up" just a smidge, but AVs were apparently not capable of it. Noobs looked like they were walking into a wall when they tried to move from grass to walkway.

I also could not walk up most of the steps I found in Darkwood/Darklife, and my house steps have become unusable.

Argh.

For what it's worth, I haven't experienced this under any circumstances nor have I seen it occur to anyone else.

This happens to me a lot. It's worst when running or approaching an elevated surface at a sharp angle.

I'd prefer to stumble and fall down to going airborne =D

Yes, the problem is greatly magnified if you are running. I have had my AV stopped dead running up a flat ramp!
