Flashing Bios question

im going to be updating my bios, i currently have v1.3 of the AMI bios, and my question is, can i just go and install the newest one?

Be very very VERY VERY VERY careful about flashing your bios. Very.

One wrong thing and it can ruin your week. :)

yeah under no circumstance should you turn off your computer, loose power, or restart while you are flashing it.

Unless of course it instucts you to do so or does so when it is finished.

well, i flashed it, and im still here :D , but it didnt fix my problem. I have an MSI KT4V motherbard with an AMD ATHLON XP 2500 mobile, and it keeps on running the cpu at 500MHz. I have the FSB set at 166 and the multiplier at 12.5, but it seems to put it at 3. Can anyone help?

Are you running on battery or plugged in? Most mobile processors automatically step down to save power if you're running on battery (for example, all Mobility P3's drop to 600mhz when on battery power.)

its a mobile processor, but its in a desktop computer.
