For no other reason (than just technical curiosity) are there any bad points for having just 1 bot on your openspace sim (just for the sake of doing it)?

Perhaps sitting in a chair, having from a rope swing.... anything really.

And is it a easy thing to get working, or does it require a LOT of tch knowledge to create a bot. Not all the time, just (as I say) for the sake of doing it?

"Bot" has several different meanings.

One is to create an alternate avatar, disable automatic logout, login, sit on your chair, and there you are. Lots of people use a couple of avatars for testing products, etc.

Another is to use something like libsl or a custom viewer. You write some variety of C code to automate your alt avatar.

The Terms of Service that you click through contain various restrictions on what you are allowed to do with any login, human or automated. Don't violate those rules and you are fine. For example, you could violate them if you use the libsl approach to download other people's builds and upload them again as your own product. You get caught, you are a dead man.

Ah right thanks.........

I'd never really looked into this subject, so was not really aware of the tech differences.

I guess what I thought of was a Avatar that didn't "appear" to have a human behind it.
My main experience is, where I have a small plot of land, there are a few Avatars sitting on a bench (furrys actually, but that's nothing to do with it) and when 1st bought the land I went up to them and said hi to introduce myself (thinking they neighbours) but no reply, nothing, and as far as I know they've been sitting there for well over a month now.

If you do have an Alt (which I know many do) can you log your alt into world, without loading up a whole new (resource sucking) version of the SL full client/viewer?
