SO whenever I do some editing of any kind, it could be building or editing appearance, it seems to, after a while and out of the blue, freeze the screen or the environment just like any regular lag; However the difference from this and 'ol lag is that my mouse stops working and the whole screen freezes. I can hear the sounds of the air or what have you, but then it starts skipping and then just freezes, constantly and rapidly repeating the last 1/2 of a second bit of sound and never unfreezes consequently causing me to have to restart the whole computer. ~ This has just started happening 3 days ago and rather frequently and I can't get anything done. I scanned my whole system for viruses and spyware and deleted all the threats but the freeze happened again. All i'm looking for is a solution, if this has happened to someone before, and if possible a reason why this is happening. Mainly I just want it to stop, so help please!
Thankyou.

Isn't it frustrating!? I've come to accept a certain number of freezes/ crashes as an unavoidable part of the SL experience, but if they get too frequent it becomes Not Worth It. If this is a new issue, and you haven't uploaded a new version of the program in the last 3 days, try the following: Empty your SL texture cache Lower your Preferences graphics settings for viewer distance, windlight, etc. - that often helps Update your graphics card driver to the most recent version (although, I had to actually roll mine back to an earlier version to stop crashing) Look on the Second Life issue tracker and see if there are any current issues related to your particular graphics card or computer http://jira.secondlife.com/secure/Dashboard.jspaIf you've changed versions, I'd look on the forums if there are any particular issues with that version that could be tripping you up.

Sometimes this can be caused by VBO (OpenGL Vertex Buffer Objects) Does this happen mostly when moving your camera? If so this could be it.
In preferences go to the graphics tab, enable custom settings then pick the hardware options button. In that disable "Enable OpenGL Vertex Buffer Objects". Clear your cache then log out. See if it improves from there.

See if it improves from there. If this is recent issue as the OP discribed and "Enable OpenGL Vertex Buffer Objects" was enabled before without issues, then the probem does tend to point to a graphics problem. VBO is a capablility of your graphics card.......not the viewer. If it worked before and stops (assuming nothing else has changed) then it may be a driver problem. Check of a newer driver for your card (preferably from the graphics card manufacturer's website.........not your computer manufacturer). If that doesn't work then maybe a good cleaning out of the computer case is in order.........actually, I would do that first. Between those two suggestions I have no other to offer without some more information about the computer in use.

I know, it was just a suggestion. But also not all of vbo is hardware. Performance of it has a lot to do with how a program is coded to use it. Just like OpenGl is hardware based, yet there is still a lot of coding that needs to be done to make use of it. Use of VBO in SL has recently been "improved" a bit. Again, it is just one of many posible suggestions.

I've done some cleaning up of my PC prior to this and I already had settings pretty low, i'm currently updating my graphics and I'm going to do the buffer object thing later on. I have a good feeling . If it doesn't work i'll just really clean up my pc like uber spring clean the sucker . And if not then, then i'm gonna be very confused as to why it's not working and complain some more . Thanks so far for all the suggestions and help, it is very much appreciated . --edit!--- Nothing Works! I've tried everything. Still my whole pc freezes! HELP
