Hello, after the 1.3 update.. (I had this same problem with the preview, but I had hoped it was a bug that will be fixed before 1.3 goes out) Second Life Crashes just about 75% into the Downloading inventory screen. Anyone knows what this might be? I can try to post infomation, but I'm running off her e in a moment.

Basically, I think it may be something about AGP drivers, it popped up a box about it, but I closed it and went onwards. If anyone has the link, I could look at that page.

I don't know if actually my video card or not, but simply enough it is a GeForceFX 5600 128MB, so those other posts about a old savage probably don't apply here.

Is the crash reporter sending reports about this? Have you e-mailed a bug report to Linden Labs?

It crashes, hard. It simply pops up a 'illegal operation' or wahtnot window, then shuts it down with no option to send to LL, or even Microsoft.

Does the crash reporter pop up the next time you run SecondLife?

Actually, I think it's supposed to be automatic now. If you've opted to send crash data, you won't ever see the crash reporter window.

As of the next-to-last version of 1.2, it was manual for me, especially for crashes during "precaching" or "downloading inventory".

Well, the patch did nothing, updating Via Drivers did nothing.. I've tried everything, every option, yet SL still crashes at Downloading Inventory, or 'Precache' when in fullscreen. :/

I have a feeling that you may have something corrupt in your inventory. It's been known to happen.

Lindens, ya out there? :)

It's fairly frustrating, SL just will not run no matter what I try.. I dunno if it's a corrupted item or not. I don't remember getting a any item when this happened, just was sitting idly in MOrris and chatting.

Further testing, and the help of a friend, makes it definately my computer being the problem. So it's not a corrupted inventory. Any ideas at all? I've tried turning off every setting, lowering every graphic setting, turning off my second monitor, changing settings, everything. NOthing works. :/

Orrrr. Not! I got back in, it seems when I went into video card settings and turned antiscroptic (Sp) filtering and Anti-aliasing from application controlled to just plain OFF, it let me! Yay!

Any other news on this? This is happening to me as well, but I have NEVER gotten into SL at all (I just installed it tonight).

I have:

P4 2.8MHz
1GB RAM
nVidia GeForce4 w/ 128MB Memory
160GB HDD
Cable internet connection

I have AntiAlias and antistropic (sp) turned off as per last suggestion, but with no help.

I will keep trolling the forums to see if anyone else has fixed this.

I've seen this problem on almost every computer i've ran sl on. Changing any video preference before connecting fixes the problem. Far as I can tell it's not really the effects them selves, but some thing about the way they were turned on, perhaps corrupt preference file.

Okay, I've fixed it!

While I turned off the antistropic (or whatever it's called) in the in-game settings, I failed to turn that setting off on my card (the same place that you turn off anti-aliasing).

If anyone else is having the same problem, try doing that, it worked for me!!
