Sculpties sometimes not fully "popping" into shape?

Just wondering if there's any setting to improve this?
In the past I have seen trunks of large palm tree's which look like a long sausage in mid air.
Also window frames on some houses which are all weird shapes.
And myself I have some sculptie stairs which often look only roughly like they should.
All Sculpties I guess.
I find that clicking on them normally makes them "pop" into their correct shape.
It's not all the time, but it's noticable enough to notice it !!! (sometimes)

The situation should improve a lot with 1.21 (which is still pre-release at this point, but you can download and try the release candidate if you'd like to experiment). Meanwhile, stubborn sculpties can oftentimes be beaten into shape with a right click.

Since the new updates RC and normal NONE of the sculpties are taking shape with the browser.

Just today I downloaded a new SL client ( .17 I think) .21 seems a LONG way away from .17 Is there major reasons not to try this beta version? Is there a run down on what the major enhancements are (are going to be)? Is there a link to download it? Thanks

From: Piggie Paule .21 seems a LONG way away from .17 Oh, not so bad, that's 1.20.17, the next major release will be 1.21.something! From: someone Is there major reasons not to try this beta version? Is there a run down on what the major enhancements are (are going to be)? Is there a link to download it? Well, it's a beta, so not everything is quite cooked yet. You can have both the release and RC installed side by side, so you're not forced to choose one or the other. For the changes, http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release_Candidate/1.21Download link is at the bottom left of http://secondlife.com/support/downloads.php

Try setting RenderVolumeLODFactor on Debug Settings to a higher number. I moved mine up from 1.25 to 4 and that has helped immensely.

The issue with some sculpties, is that they are a light map wrapped around a bounding box, which refreshes at around 12.5fps, sort of like small movies. Until the light map is fully loaded, you will see refractions of the light map as it progressively downloads into your cache. More recently in the clients released by LL, they make adjustments to the rendering pipelines, taking some system CPU cycles away from one element and giving it to another. With memory leaks plaguing the clients, there has been some memory leaks introduced into the GC memory. So whilst after a short period of time, sculpties finally rez, or forced by focusing the client (r/h clicking it), they can revert back.

Unfortunatly (currently) way over my head also Making a Sculptie myself (and knows the right and wrongs of doing so) is something I've not even started to look into yet. Out of interest (as we are on the subject and without starting a new thread) what tools (software) would I need to create a Sculptie? Something like a Rock, or a Cushion, or a lumpy bed cover.... That kinda thing?

Sculpties dont appear, dont get into shape.
10-08-2008 03:07
Sence I downloaded new version non of the sculpties are getting into shape, some things I dont even know what is it.
I tryed Right Klick,Zoom them hoping that they will get into shape, deleteing SL,resinstall it and even going thru options hoping that I will find some solution.
When there was another release before this one was for download I had same problem so I get it back to old version, now I dont have solution becouse I cant play with old version anymore and in my house most of the furnitures are sculpties....I tryed asking some of the online lindens in charge of this softwere issues,no one answered(like always).
PLEASE I NEED HELP or I will need to leave Second Life, this has no sence at all I realy cant play like this.
THANKS.

I had this problem and fixed it by....

...going to Preferences > Graphics > and the "Hardware Options" button. For some reason, SL had my Texture Memory (MB) slider at the maximum of 2048. I moved it down to 640 which is my video card memory, and all is fine. Hope this works for you!
