Hi Everyone!

My mom just called from the Apple Store and said they were going to buy me a 17" Powerbook for my 30th b'day.

Hooray!

This also means that I'll hand-me-down my 12" PB to my wife, so she can play more SL as well :) Her SL name is Nono Flora, so if you see her in world, say hi.

Hooray!

Congrats man!

You know what, though, you posted this on April 1st.

But I know nobody would be kidding about getting themselves a brand new Apple computer :D

Right?

Hot Darn!

Congratulations!

Are you able to run the latest Mac OS X beta client on your 12" PowerBook? Mine doesn't want to run with the update to 1.3. Could it be because my 12" PowerBook is slightly below specs at 867Mhz?

Wonderin'...

Salazar... are you talking 1.3.3, or 1.3.x in general?

I've gotten it to run on 1.3.2 I believe, but haven't tried 1.3.3 yet. Will let you know.

I'm trying to use SL v.1.3.3 on a Mac 12" G4 PowerBook 876Mhz w/640 megs RAM. When I open the SL client the screen goes dark, i can move my cursor around and I can quit back to the Finder using Command-Q. When I run the SL client and hit Return the cursor changes to a wristwatch on screen but the rest of the screen stays dark.

My wife used my 12" PB with the same specs to play SL last night. Not sure why you are having those issues. :P

Sounds like a few other users were experiencing the same start up problem I was. It seems to have been addressed with the latest Mac Beta update - 1.3.4. I installed the newest client and can now log in successfully.

Yeah!

I finally got a hold of 1.3.3 and 1.3.4 for the Mac today, no issues for me in either, on a 12" Pb... but I also noticed the mention in the release notes.

Congrats that you are back in business, Salazar.

And Marcos, how's the 17"?

It's good. Widescreen is fun.

The ATI issues are not fun. Running with AGP off, SL on my 1.33 GHz 17"PB is barely any faster than on my 867 MHz 12" PB.

When I turn on AGP, it's very smooth and nice until it locks up the whole system and I have to reboot. :P

Oh well. They seem to be correcting the ATI issues bit by bit. Just need to be patient.
