Ok since i downloaded the latest version of SL, my avi has been pulling random facial expressions, and this is without my AO being on also, so how would i turn these facial expressions off? is there something in the advanced settings?
Regards

Hm, do you use voice? Make sure that Advanced->Character->Enable Lip Sync is turned off. Otherwise, _something_ has to be triggering the things :/

OK, well there are a few things you can try that won't necessarily cure this, but help you to narrow down the problem.
First, see if the problem continues if you take off all attachments (or at least anything that might be scripted). Sometimes accessory builders get cute and add weird unexpected features. If removing attachments makes a difference, you can use process of elimination to find the naughty one.
If the problem continues even with no attachments, the next step will be to see if the problem follows you to different locations. In particular, an object that has permission to animate you can keep that permission essentially forever, and it can run animations on you as long as you are in the same region. If you teleport to a different sim and the problem goes away, chances are that there is an object in the first sim that you will need to hunt down and kill. It could be something like an AO or expression script that was inadvertently dropped on the ground at some point, even some piece of furniture, but exactly what it is and where it's hiding will be the hard parts.
You can also make sure that the animations are really being run, and that it's not some weird viewer glitch. To check this part, turn on Advanced->Character->Animation Info. If the animations are actually being triggered, you'll see express_toothsmile etc. in the floaty text. For extra points, see if others can see those animations running on your avatar too.
Hopefully some tests in those areas will turn up something and lead to some kind of revelation.

yeh i got this weird sorta smiling avi at the moment. Even deleted the 'alady smile hud' i picked recently, but avi still does it wherever I am and I don't use voice either. Looks more like a smirk to me, or a half hearted smile, but hey I got nice teeth...will investigate further based on viktoria's suggestions..........it's kinda of annoying. doggie
