I just built a new computer for my sister:
AMD 64 X2 2.80ghz 2gig DDR 1066 ASUS Geforce 256 meg 8500gt
not sure what else is relevant.
But every time I log in on her new machine it will stop responding after about a minute. well that is not really accurate cause the program doesn't lockup I can still look around go to mouse view open window's, it seems stuff that would be on this computer is fine. However I can not move after the first minute, sometimes if I happen to be moving I just keep going and can't stop.
I have played with every setting I could find, searched the forums tried a few more things, but I still have the exact problem. I have checked drivers. It must be something with this new system cause when I grab my laptop it runs the same as ever on that, even after I updated it. So it shouldn't be anything with my network or internet connection.
oh and I'm running 64bit vista.
anybody got ideas....

Do you have a change to enable your client/server menu? ctrl-alt-D under client check 'console window' then restart the client. it will open a 2nd window with just debugging text of what the client is doing.... I have the same problem. Only difference for me is its completely random when it happens, mainly happens during a sim crossing. or with high script/physics loading on the sim. (I do alot of sailing) Look for something when you crash and your minimap goes red on you that looks similiar to this... From: someone WARNING: LLMessageSystem::disableCircuit: Couldn't find circuit code for 64.129.40.41:13014 Just look for something that is talking about a 'circuit' I suspect you are losing your connection to the sim itself somehow as which is what happens to me. btw Im on XP so I dont know if it is going to matter on the OS in question. But it would be good to eliminate the possibility of it being your connection before moving on to some more indepth help plus that window is a big help for letting you see if something is giving you problems and you might not even know it.

This exact same thing has started happening to me as of the most recent update to Windlight and the RC viewers. It might not be just you at all.

is there a log for that

I'm getting a whole bunch of warnings the one that seems to cause the crash is some thing about not able to contact something it gives the ip and port but I can never get the whole thing read before it starts to print a whole shit load more stuff to the screen. I believe it is usually something like 63.210.157.*** the last three I don't remember so they must change and port number I think is always 12035 but not sure.
so is there a log file for that console window? cause it won't let me copy anything from it and as soon as I close SL it closes also.
thanks Carm3n

Having the same problem on one of my 3 systems. I think it has something to do with the internet connection. I am having some general problems with that system, which is on wireless. Just haven't had the time to run it down.

I think its just the SL servers.. I have lag spikes like crazy that cause the client to stop responding randomly for 10-20 seconds then back to normal.
Also.. Wireless users. Your just asking for issues. Under requirements they state that Second Life is not supported under wireless and satellite connections.
Surely due to the amount of data streaming in and out which is required. This doesnt mean you wont work, you just risk a much higher probability of packet loss on top of what us cablers get.

Same problem here

I'm experiencing the same problems as most of you, so I started running the performance meter thing and watched my connection via bandwidth flopping all over the place until it gradually slides down to the bottom of the scale and I,m stuck being able to look around but not move.
This happens virtually every time I'm online, sometimes after a minute sometimes I get 20 or 30 minutes but the end result is always the same.
I know it's not my internet connection since I have tested it at 15,550 kb/s DL and a 7800 kb/s UL. It always tests the same.
SL told me to clear my cache and that did nothing. So if anyone comes up with a fix for this please post here!
Thanks all!
