Okay, I come online once in a while. Because I have more to do in real life currently mostly, but now i try for the past 2 weeks and the problems start directly!

What is the problem? Once i startup Second-Life, SecondLife.exe that is, it loads partially. Once I see a black window it crashes, bug reporter doesn't seem to work and can no connect.

What did i try? Well several things so far, I tried clearing the cache (which is strange to do since my PC is just 4 months old, so better then most of the PC's most users have), This did not work. I re-installed it over the old installation, did not work. I uninstalled the complete thing and deleted the remaining folders etc and re-installed SL (so clean installation). And again, same result, nothing! I tried this several times but still nothing! Trying to find a e-mail to LindenLab also fails so I can not send a e-mail or report this problem. I'm getting really desperate since I got a bussiness to run. PLEASE can any help me out? Lindens perhaps????

OS: Vista Ulimate (English)
RAM: TEAM Extreem 4GB DDR2 800 cas 4-4-4-12 DARK series
CPU: INTEL DUO2Core E6750 2667MHz

PLEASE help!!!!! :(

What kind of video card is it?

What version of SL?

What version video drivers?

You say you "deleted the remaining folders etc." Which folders were those?

What kind of internet service?

Wired or wireless network?

Have you tried running a different version of SL?

Because Sl (the .exe) checks for an internet connection before it completes the program launch.

Versions of SL are also important since they have different features.........if one has a feature that is (for some reason) not supported by your hardware it will fail. But another version may not have that feature and the program will not fail.

All we need is some information to try to help you. If you don't give it then you will likely not get any useful help.

If you don't find it worth the time to answer questions about your setup from people trying to help you, then you should not ask for help in a forum.

Try version 1.19.1 (4)...........that is the version I use. It is not the most current version, which is the one you are using (actually, I believe that version is technically still a release candidate.....anyway, it's an optional version). Go to the download page and search for 1.19.1 (4). Uninstall the version you are using (encluding manually delteting any left over files related to SL) and install the "older" version. It may or may not clear up your problem.....but, you'll never know if you don't try it.

You may think your connection should not be a problem....but often it is. I have a 6 mbps connection that regularly tests at 5.8 mbps.....but sometimes that connection speed drops dramatically due to internet traffic, ISP issues, my router/modem acting up, etc.
Try going here:

http://www.speedtest.net/

Run a few tests to different areas (not just the recommended test site) and get a fair average.....remember the test is only testing your connection to a specific server that has no where near the data transfer that LL's servers do. But it will help you to know if any connection issues are local or somewhere between you and LL's servers. LL has two major locations.........San Francisco and Dallas so test thoes two also. You cannot discount your connection speed just because your ISP is saying your speed is 5 mbps.....that is the max. You'll almost always be somewhat slower.

On your specs......just about all Suezanne mentioned. SL is extremely graphics and CPU intensive......it requires almost everything your computer can produce to get good performance. Graphics card make and model (including dedicated VRAM), CPU (speed, FBS, etc), system RAM, operating system (and since many people seem to have problems with getting drivers for 64 bit OS's it might be helpful to tell us that too). You could take a few minutes to browse some of the threads started in this forums that are similar to your problem. You should get a fair idea of what people need in order to help you.......heck, you might even find a solution to your problem.

No one here is on LL's pay roll. We all are just "residents" of SL. Some are real computer experts, some are long time residents (such as Suezanne who's been here since SL's virtual dirt was nothing but virtual water :) ). And some of us are just a little experienced with problems we've had in the past......and relate some of the things we've done to fix our own problems. Reading past posts is very helpful. Arguing with us about your system specs is not helpful......you are the one asking for help. We want to help. We cannot help unless we know a little about what you have to work with. That is all we are asking for.

Also you might try updating Quicktime, and if that doesn't work, uninstalling it, and if Silverlight is installed, uninstall it.

I posted the name of my CPU, so find it and you will find its 64bit indeed :) Im pretty much, well.. yeah kinda can call me an expert aswell i guess... got papers for it... so kinda know what things to do. its just weird that all games just start up and only SL is giving problems :S and when i did was able to go on SL i noticed it still lagged like bad time, SL still has the lagg leak in it it seems... About teh drivers, I always update once its available, so that means i update as soon as it is released.

Well I placed the CPU, the OS, Told about the RAM memory, told about the internet,.
the video card is a Club3C CGAX-38742X2 ATI 3870 R680 825Mhz 1024MB
Motherboard: Asus MB Intel X38 Socket 775 Maximus Formula
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint T166 HD501LJ 500GB 7200rpm SATA2 16MB

what do you need to know more? DVD player n that stuff is kinda not needed for the game so kinda see no point in adding that.... or is it?

Well, dispite the fact that I'm no where near as "expert" or qualified as you are (I have no papers to prove that too :) ) I'm wondering why I have no problems with a similar system to yours CPU wise and a "lessor" nVidia card (with about 4 driver update versions behind the most recent).......and you do? I'm no use to you.....figure it out for yourself, I guess.

Sorry.

its possible for better hardware to cause trouble with games hat are older, same for other way around which people see more happening. programs or games that cause the PC to either not work or crash. in my case it should not be a problem at all tho, it ran like it should untill a few weeks ago. so cant be the hardware then :S

sorry for the double post, but i just tried a previous version (Second_Life_1-19-1-4_Setup.exe) but this fails aswell, same problem. This is just getting weirder with the second o_0 Yes it was a clean installation, yes I made sure there were no traces of old installations on the computer.
