Hello,
This isn't exactly SL related, but this is just about the only forum I'm active on, so might as well ask here. Besides, it IS hindering my forum use =P
For some reason, for the last week or so, Firefox has been acting a little odd. Normally, I'd use the up and down keys for website navigation, to scroll up and down the page, as well as page down, page up, end, and home. However, recently, when I click my mouse anywhere on the page, it puts a blinking cursor there, as if I was going to type. Then, instead of behaving like I'm used to, the aforementioned keys also act as if I'm in a text input field, with up/down going up or down a line of text, and jumping over images, home and end going to the start/end of a line, and page up and down...well....actually, they're almost normal, since there's not much difference between the two navigation styles.
Did I hit a hotkey by accident, or something? How can I get back to normal? I've already checked and made sure my Insert key wasn't pressed, which was just about the only thing I could think of.

If your FF is below version 3.0.9, perhaps updating might fix the problem.
You could try using Flock while figuring out your FF problem.

Try pressing F7 to toggle Caret mode off.
Caret mode is to allow you to select text with the keyboard.
Took me a few tries to find this, the Google search that worked was for
"firefox 3" "page up" "page down" "problem with" cursor input
That produce a link with what I bet is the answer as the first link in the results.

You could try using Flock while figuring out your FF problem. FF is completely up-to-date for me, and still usable, just a bit annoying for things to not happen when I expect them to, or to act differently than I'm used to.

From: SuezanneC Baskerville We are posting over top of each other, I think. Indeed. You are rather awesome at googling. I'm but a novice compared to thee. Or...or something.

Now that we are reminded that the text cursor is sometimes called a caret, the search terms of choice would just be firefox caret or better yet (because the answer is the first link) firefox blinking cursor problem Another approach to a problem you think might have been caused by pressing a key would be to search for firefox keyboard shortcuts Unfortunately, that doesn't really work too well, because the keyboard shortcut lists are too terse with their descriptions to let you recognize the problem. Just for the sake of completeness, though, here's the Firefox keyboard shortcuts: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/keyboard+shortcutsIf it's been a while since you've read them - I don't think I've ever read them - it might be worth checking them out. I see several I might use if I could just remember them long enough for them to sink in.
