Oi, i think the tax man stole some of my money! Ok i used my array command to create a 10x10x10 array of objects, just for fun, and it subtracted out $10000 like it is supposed to. Then when i said die (there is a listen library call on each of the objects that answers to die) they all deleted, but shortchanged me $4000! I notice that when it is creating them, it takes my cash balance a little bit of time to catch up with the objects as they are created, fyi, about a 5-8 second delay. So the 1000 objects existed for maybe a minute, so what are the chances that the tax program ran at exactyl the time that all of those objects were up? and as further proof against this, i checked my account balance and it said that
CODE

Object creation = -17390
Object claim = -138
Object deleted = 13040

Right, so that is what happened, i noticed yesterday when i was playing with a 10x10 array that i seemed to be loosing money as well, but it was slim as compared to this heh.

your array sounds similar to my chessboard. I noticed some artifacting when deleting as well, framerate would dip and my money would be a minute or so behind the actual object.

On the other hand I haven't actually been watching very closely, so I don't know if I was losing money.

I requested that they put a previous balance line in the Account history in enhancements, because I suspected that I was losing money also. But since I didn't know my exact dollar amounts I didn't report it as an issue. But I'm waiting for the tax man to come by again before I create any new objects to see what happens.

I was just wondering if someone had taken a look into this? I don't know if I regained the money I had lost or not... my bank is reasonably full, but i am not sure if that is due to people buying my objects, or what. Either way, I was just curious if it was looked into, so that I don't have to put a sleep function into my kill object commands.

Double Taxed
01-03-2003 00:22
I think the Taxman is double-dipping into my account.

I get my stipend and an accounting of what's subtracted and then about 4 days later I get another large debit and another accounting. This has happened twice. The first pass puts my account up. But the second pass knocks it down about 800.

I wasn't sure if this was normal, but when I mentioned it to Jennifer Linden she suggested I post.

This week the "first pass" covered transactions from 12-21, but the "second pass" is dated from 12-24. Isn't that a little close together? Or have I misunderstood everthing and stipends and taxes occur on separate days?

got me twice this week, too
01-03-2003 12:44
and I think maybe twice last week as well.

oh, also, I can't scroll down the account history window any more. the scrollbar is there in the elevator, but I can't drag it down, nor does clicking the down arrow do anything. Isn't there a "next week's estimate" hiding from me down there?

you could scroll down?

I never could scroll down...and there is an estimate? hmm I can't say that i have ever seen an esitamte, maybe it has to do with the number of items that are displayed in my account.

I *could* scroll down, yes

But I can't remember when I stopped being able to.

I'm almost positive that it gives an estimate for "next week" down there -- estimated ratings bonus, estimated stipend, etc. Check tonight and see if your slider looks like it should be able to scroll down the elevator.

this one tricked me for a while....you can't use the scroll bar for some reason but you can use the Mouse Wheel to scroll down...(wonder if pgup and pgdn work as well...)...something to try

Yes the wheel on the mouse works I can do it too. I also agree I think I was double ripped by the taxman.

PageUp and PageDown do not work in the account history window --

I don't have a mouse wheel.. heck I don't even have an actual mouse! (Touchpad instead).
