How do I ...
06-28-2004 06:11
remove a script? I bought a parrot, who used to talk. After I upgraded to the new software version, he stopped talking. I searched my inventory for a script (parrot talk), but couldn't find any. I DID find a script without a name and no-edit rights, so I thought I would be brave and drag it on my parrot to see if he would talk again. Now, not only does he not talk, but he rotates round and round. Sheesh! How do I take the rotating script off my parrot? I just want to get back to where I was. I can live with a silent parrot, but not a rotating one *smile*.

LOL! Funny... it's prolly a bad idea to use an unnamed script to which you dont have rights! In this case it's not too bad... a rotation script will be able to be deleted just fine. However, had that been a particle script or something else with a persistent state, deleting it would not have helped. To delete the script, go into edit mode (CTRL + 3) and highlight the parrot, click the 'MORE>>' button if you don't have the tabs up, click on the content tab and locate your script (which is prolly called 'new script'), highlight it in the contents and hit delete. Your parrot should stop spinning. As for making you parrot work again, he prolly already has a script there, which you may or may not be able to view, but in any case, you should be able to double click it to open the dialogue even if it says 'you are not allowed to view this script'. At the bottom of the dialogue is a reset button. Click that and see what happens. Sometimes a script will get hung up and just need a bit of a boot. If that doesnt work, have a look at the creator and give them a shout. They will prolly help you if they can. If the parrot is Sio's (evil devilspawn repeat-things-you- shouldn't-have-said-at-the-worst-possible-moment) parrot, I'm sure she'll be more than willing to help, cuz she's a sweetie

Dear Kris, Thank you for the perfect instructions! I followed what you said to do. My parrot has stopped turning. He can stay perched in silence. He is SO cute. I will try to contact the owner to get the sript back, but no big deal. The cute parrot (unturning) is what I really wanted back.
I would NEVER have been able to figure this out on my own.
Seabunny thanks you

From: someone Originally posted by Siobhan Taylor Pfft! Since when did parrots come in black? I still insist, no matter what you say, that you coded that parrot with a 'get Kris Ritter' function. That thing has got me in trouble so many times... I actually don't speak anywhere within earshot of the darned things now.
