Are you using an nVidia video card? That looks like the palletized texture bug. Revert your graphics driver to the 175 series, and the problem should go away.

From: Darius Vayandar also happens there That's really strange. I've never seen anything like that before. From: Darius Vayandar and it isnt i have all the old drivers from like back in june of 08, i dont think i can go back farther. nVidia archives all their drivers, as do a couple of third party sites, just so you know. You can go back years if you want to (not that you should). In any case, the 175.16 driver came out in May, and 175.19 was in July. So if yours was installed in June, it's probably good. Still, it could have gotten corrupted, so it might be worthwhile to reinstall it. It's worth a try, anway. To find out exactly what driver you've got, launch your nVidia control panel, and click the System Information link at the lower left. To download a new copy of the same one, just go to nVidia.com, and type it into the search field. From: Darius Vayandar also everyone around me sees the issue too
also, i have an alt and this dosent happen to him Now that's downright bizarre. I can't think of any technical reason the problem would only happen with one account and not another on the same machine. About the only suggestion I can think of is to clear your cache, delete your settings information, and reinstall SL. If the problem persists after that, I'm all out of ideas.

it only seems to happen if you use SL default layers and colour them if you use a texture with the length drawn in rather than using the slides it doesn't do it

Same issue but it's not just black
01-04-2009 09:22
Since the last release viewer I've experienced this issue when wearing shirts or even some shoes on feet it will turn other areas of my avatar the color of the back ground of the template used to create the item. I've tried rolling back my Nvida drivers back to 175 series with out any luck there. I have one shirt turns my hands white and another that turns my arms and hands red and a shoe base that turns my legs a light green. Those items I can mod I see that the color represents the background of the template. This cropped up like I said in the past couple of viewer releases, also happens in the RC client.
