SL has always run smooth for me, no problems. Just today I decided to start to build. I know the basics, I made myself a tiny lamp, etc.

But now I'm going bigger with my builds, I'm making a big object. Every time I'm editing it though, SL locks up and crashes. Anyone know why building would make SL crash?

EDIT: Four of the five times, it happens when I hollow an object.

It's been happening to me all weekend and on my log-in screen, when I log in, the details in the top RH corner always show the same amount of people logged in to SL. This has been the same for me all weekend.. 76,942.
This is from Saturday morning up until now.. in fact it's Monday afternoon here in the UK (4:50pm) and it's showing the same numbers again. I think SL have a problem.. my friends have also been experiencing bad lag and also rezzing issues as well as some of them crashing as well, check your log-in screen and see if you have anything similar.

I have noticed a lot of people having huge lag issues. I have actually had some of this myself and it was not happening before..

Guess this is going around. Server just doesn't like builders anymore, or something?

I haven't had any trouble building, but my Ping Sim stat has been all over the place today. Traceroute shows a likely issue with one of Level3's Dallas hubs, the last one listed before LL's facility. If LL is having connectivity problems as a result, I'd imagine it could possibly cause the problem you guys are describing.

Or it could just be coincidence, and have nothing to do with it whatsoever.

I'm just the opposite.. when I go onto a posing start to edit my hair or a attachement, I zoom in to do the little work and BOOM! One way ticket to Crashytown

Try disabling occlusion culling. Crashing from camera movement is often due to problems with the culling routine, as the viewer has to do extra work to decide what to and not to include when drawing each frame. Disabling it will lower your overall frame rate, but it will also eliminate the tricky math that causes the cash (if that is indeed what's causing it).

You'll find the option to disable it in the Advanced Menu (ctrl-alt-D). Advanced -> Rendering -> uncheck Object-Object Occlusion
