Your question was too broad to really answer. What kind of computer do you have? Did SL ever run correctly on it? With the same version of SL you are using now or a different version? Has anything with your computer or network setup changed recently that you know about? Do other Internet things work OK for you on that machine? After the "several relogs" is everything OK? Do you get any error messages when these problems happen?

OK. The kinds of problems you are seeing usually turn out to be networking issues. And yes this can still be very much the case even if games from other vendors work, SL can expose a faulty network connection better than many other applications just from the sheer volume of data that needs to be sent without time to quietly retransmit.

If you have the equipment or can go somewhere that has it, try a wired instead of a wireless connection, and see how it affects the problems. Or, see if it gets better or worse if you try using a different access point or router. Keep the SL mini map open and watch to see if it tends to turn a red or pink shade after while, that would help tell you if you are losing the connection to the simulators (bandwidth down to 0 for any length of time, shows with ctrl-shift-1, is another way to check for this).
