What should the network settings be for a 3mb connection? Will increasing the settings help any from 500_k ?

If you truly had a 3Mbit connection, you could very well bump it up to 1Mbit without hassle. Alas, its common practice for ISPs to use a contention system, where 20 or 50 users contend for the right to use those 3Mbits. If you can consistently download stuff at speeds over 1MBit, you should be able to comfortably run SL at 1Mbit. Setting your SL speed too high will result in major packet loss. Try it, and you will soon find out  |

Oh, youre talking about the OLD complicated settings... the new SL version doesnt have that, so dont bother messing with them. Check the preview dialogs, now its a slider bar that goes from 50k to 1Mbit.

The line speed consistently tests at between 2.8 and 3.0 mbps - and the download speeds I am getting on files has jumped from 170kbps on my 1.5 cable modem to 350 on the new line. I will experiment and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice.
