Intel graphics adapters are not capable of running Second Life at an acceptable level of performance.

I think she means you will not enjoy it.
I agree. We might be wrong. Maybe you have very low expectation. _____________________

Which GMAC, specifically?
I have an old laptop with integrated Intel graphics. Frame rates have recently plunged from a marginally acceptable 3-6 frames per second to less than one. This is on sims where my desktop with an 8800GT gets 30-50 fps. Newer Intel GMACs are much better, though. Whatever the GMAC version, you will probably find yourself running with shaders off, and other graphics preferences cranked way down, just to get enough fps so you can see yourself walking. . |

Didn't we just have this thread?
If you're buying this computer retail, if it's not some super deal from a friend of yours who's selling you it for ten cents on the dollar because it fell off a pallet or something like that... Run, run, run from that Intel graphics as you would run from a swarm of bees. A swarm of flaming africanized honey-bees infected with flesh-rotting fungus. Look for a comparable laptop with an nVidia (preferably) or ATI graphics processor. Really. You'll be happier (and less itchy). What's the actual laptop you're looking at? Maybe we can find something better (and maybe even cheaper) for you. _____________________

Look for a Pavilion dv6z instead of the G60. I just went to HP.COM and put together this for $579.99, with no special deal. Adding the recovery DVD (don't go home without it) and antivirus brought it up to $647.99:
* • HP Pavilion dv6z Espresso Black * • Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) * • AMD Athlon(TM) X2 Dual-Core Processor for Notebook PCs QL-65 (2.1GHz, 1MB L2 Cache) * • FREE Upgrade to 3GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) * • FREE Upgrade to 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection * • ATI Radeon(TM) HD 3200 Graphics * • 16.0" diagonal High Definition HP Brightview Display (1366x76 ![]() * • LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support * • Webcam Only * • Wireless-G Card * • HP Color Matching Keyboard * • 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery * • No Modem * • System Recovery DVD with Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) * • Microsoft(R) Works 9.0 * • Norton Internet Security(TM) 2009 - 15 Month Subscription Can't give you a direct link, the HP website isn't very linkable. It's under Laptops -> Everyday Computing -> HP Pavilion dv6z series. Edit: _____________________
