Hello Everyone,

Is anyone using the mobile nVidia go chips that have FX2500m or FX3500m Quadro chips? These are made for OpenGL applications and was wondering if they help in SL.

Thank you,
Monnie

I haven't tried a system with those chips. Quadro GPUs are officially unsupported, so if it doesn't work LL doesn't promise to try to fix it; that said, they have good OpenGL support and mostly work well for Second Life. Recent Quadros are really the same GPUs as in the general-purpose line but with different drivers, and a flag set on the chip so that the driver knows it's a Quadro. (That's mostly to prevent you from using the much less expensive consumer boards as a substitute for the expensive workstation graphics ones, not the other way around.)

For a while, there was a series of third-party drivers called the Omega Drivers; they were patched versions of the NVidia GeForce drivers that (among other things) removed the chip version check so you could run GeForce drivers on a Quadro, just in case your games didn't work with the Quadro drivers. Development doesn't seem to be happening currently, though.
