On the first issue try clearing your cache and rebooting. On the second I don't have a laptop so I've never experienced that problem. But with the plugging in your charger causing a crash it would point back to something with your laptop and/or charger. You might try plugging the charger in before logging into SL and see what happens.

maybe its one of those that 'shuts off' the real video card for a more energy efficient chipset
which would cause you experiance weirdness, cause its not using the 'real' video card
and when you plug it in it switches over, causing all hell to break loose
turn off the computer, plug it in, restart and run SL, and let us know what it does that way

Ok, my charging issue is solved! Osgeld gave me an idea and i switched my power settings to high preformance and i seem to be doing ok... Clearing cache does no good on my graphics issue though, ive tryed many times before...
One step closer!

Never mind, i spoke too soon... Still crashing while plugged in... And it doesnt it anytime i have my charger cord plugged in, but only when trying to play sl. It also does it when i take out the battery and just run power off the cord.

Couple of thoughts:
SecondLife will work the machine very hard, and (should) make the fan spin full-speed. Some laptops have under-spec'd power adapters, such that when everything is trying to draw maximum current, the whole show stops. So, assuming the power profile for "plugged in" makes everything run at full speed, the power adapter may just not be up to the task. (Even just a stupid USB mouse could push things over the edge. I used to have this problem when I had mixed up the adapters and was trying to use a "travel adapter" for a docking station.)
And then there's that fan: if there's some power setting that is trying to reduce fan noise while plugged in, running SL would result in thermal shutdown. (But not quite instantaneously when plugging in the cord.)
