Can't get past Initializing world

Hello all! I'm new to the beta, but have yet to be able to log in. After I open the game and hit connect, the green bar gets about half way (to the Initialize World part), then just errors out. Anyways, I've tried a ton of stuff and can't seem to get this to stop. I've read the other threads to no avail. Heres some of my system info:

Athlon XP 1700+
512 ram
Geforce FX 5200 Ultra (128 ram)
DirectX 9.0

Resolution 1920x1440 @ 32bit true color.
Game running in fullscreen @ 1280x1024

Im running driver version 43.45.

Since i'm using the new FX series cards, Drivers from version 43.00 down do not work with this card. I've even tried the hacked up 4x.xx ini files to try and use 41.09 and others, but all of them screw up my comp. So, I'm stuck with only using a very few driver versions - and I get the same error with each. Its the newview.exe error with one of the nvidia files. Sigh, any help? Please :)

Sweet, I found an answer to my own problem. If anyone is getting a similar error, do this:

Get latest drivers (43.45)
Open the game, and goto preferences
Goto video, and uncheck the AGP Accelerated Graphics
Next, connect to the game (it should load all the way)
Then, when in game goto edit and select preferences
Goto video and re-select the AGP accelerated graphics
Quit, and reopen the game
Now it works like it should :) Woot!

ATTENTION LINDENS!

apparently at least two people have had problems with this bug... although sarthus's solution doesn't provide me with enough insight to suggest a definitive cause/reason for this bug, hopefully one of the lindens should be able to figure out where to start looking, knowing that fiddling with the AGP Accelerated Graphics option fixes this... especially since the issue transcends GPU generations (GF4 & GFFX both affected)

Issues with GeForce FX

Sarthus, the path that you suggest really shouldn't have any impact on the startup of Second Life, the only thing that could change is that more textures will be cached after you've started up.

This seems to indicate to me that you may be having some AGP-related issues with your hardware configuration - do you have the latest AGP drivers for your motherboard chipset?

We've tested (not extensively) with a GeForce FX in the office, and we've never had any issues with it hanging any of our systems...

What motherboard are you using?

I had a similar problem.

System:
P4 1.8ghz
1gb memory
2x 80gb hd's
Intel D845WN Motherboard
MSI Geforce4 Ti4400 128mb
Soundblaster Live 5.1
DVD-Rom
Lite-On 48X CDRW
DirectX 8.1

Problem:
The game would intitially load, and allow me to login. When the progress bar got to the end, the game would proceed to crash.

The fix:
1. Randomly played w/ a few of the settings under display, turning them all off, and then all on.
2. Un-installed the drivers (Version 43.45) downloaded from nvidia's site.
3. Installed the drivers (Version 41.07) from MSI's site.
4. Logged in and moved around the world with no problems.

Cheers and good luck!
