Large polygons attached to objects

I'm running windows vista, an ATI Raedon 4800 graphics card.

I am getting a lot of video lag, and often get random polygons attached to objects in the game. For example, sometimes someone's hair will have a lot of triangles sticking out of it.

I've rebaked textures, deleted caches, adjusted graphics resolution and installed the latests graphics drivers for my video card. I've used the standar viewer, candidate viewer, and hippo viewer. I still get the same problems.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how to deal with this?

Uncheck the box for Enable OpenGL Vertex Buffer Objects in the hardware options section of SL's graphic preferences.

If that doesn't help... twice now I've had this show up shortly before my video card failed completely. :(

Hey thanks, this seems to have fixed the problem. And the graphics card is brand new so I hope it doesn't go out lol.

Worked for me too. It seemed to be ok before updating the 4850 drivers. Thank you!

Yep Ati's don't like that option, my old laptop had similar problems fixed by unchecking that box.
