I've heard some talk as though custom animations are going to be a feature soon. Can someone show me the thread or page that started the idea? I have only seen people talk, not any devs. say it was legit.

If you look through the recent Town Hall threads, it looks like custom animations will be present in version 1.4. There's no detail beyond that.
