Here's my report on bugs that the Lindens ingame seem to tell me "post that on the forum" because somehow they don't already know about them...

1: When loading the game, during precaching or inventory download, it will seem as though the game freezes, and my hard drive goes nuts. If you've read other posts, we all know this is some weird WinXP bug. Well, the other night, instead of just rebooting, I actually waited for the hard drive to STOP going nuts. I come ingame, I get the window telling me my inventory is still downloading, all objects around me are untextured (transparent) and I am stuck, cannot move along the x/y/z axis, but CAN turn in circles and go from standing to flying and vice versa, and can go into mouselook and back to 3rd person. It shows nobody being online, so chatting is useless. It's like I have a messed up single player version or somthing...
Anyways, rebooting the game makes the whole thing work fine, so there's that bug fix (sorta)...
BTW I noticed sometimes I didn't have to experience this bug at all if I changed my "disk cache" settings... just somthing you can look into...

2: For some reason I'm noticing a lot of objects offsetting overnight(or day, whatever you'd like to call it) Like the roof of my "construct" (a huge box) will shift along the x or z axis just a tad, or a wall will go along the y axis where it shouldn't. Some items are just plain off the wall, literally! And I have to re-place these items, ugh! The other day I saw a window pane out of place completely, but when I clicked on it, it went back to its normal position. What's up with that?!
So bug 2 is "items displace while nobody is on the server" which is strange, but apparently 'an old bug' according to a Linden.

3: Tracking people can break, a LOT. Landmarks I never have a problem with, but if I'm tracking a person, they usually aren't at where the yellow line indicates. MOST of the time they've simply moved to a farther location, and the tracker hasn't updated yet. But sometimes it places the line where there is nobody. Nothing. The person isn't even online, the tracker isn't supposed to be working at all! Other times the person is quite a few servers away!
Not too much of a problem, just somthing to look into.

4: Some sounds can be heard from SERVERS away. For some reason this lightsaber over at a nearby store in the next server could be heard from 4 servers away! That's some damn sound reach there! I eventually realized I could go and turn off the slightly annoying buzz noise, which was good, but I think we need some limiting of the reach that sounds are given.
I would complain about hearing people type and then not seeing what they say, but that only lets you know that they are out of earshot (or that they aren't talking to you, which can get rather confusing).

Temporary suggestion: Editable sound and speech reach for listeners and talkers alike. (For now, shouting is fine).

5: AFK sensitivity. Most AFKers agree, TOO SENSITIVE! :D

OK that's my bug report for now, have a nice day Lindens :)

I'm having similar problems to bug #2, when I teleport home, and sometimes when I first log in my house is all out of whack. When I click on the objects they jump back.

- yup I had a sizable chunk of my build go out of whack the other night. Seemed to take quite a while until everything looked ok again.

- about not seeing chat -- I've had times when I couldn't see others chat, times when others couldn't see my chat. Fixes when the person whose chat can't be seen relogs.

- I've got XP too. When my load hangs during precaching or inv load, I don't have the patience to wait. I just click the lil X and start again and it always loads up instantly -- much better than sitting and waiting -- and no ill effects.

#1 sounds like the "XP optimizes the cache" problem. We're working on this one.

#2 is probably caused by packet loss when getting more accurate updates for some of the objects. When you are far away the object positions are sent with little accuracy. When y ou get closer a position with more significant digits is sent, but if that packet is lost the object will appear in the inaccurate position. Most likely the objects really are where they are supposed to be, so you don't need to reset them.

When you select an object an update packet may get sent with the accurate position, which is why the window pane snapped back to where it was supposed to be.

#3 has been filed in the bug database. We're working on it.

#4 is probably caused by scripted sounds with volumes > 1.0. There was a forum thread about the proper volume settings for scripted sounds. Anyone remember where that thread is? A link would be handy... if I find it I'll post it here.

Basically, 1.0 is the maximum volume... volumes above 1.0 increase the falloff distance, but not the total volume... so you only want to go above 1.0 for sounds that should have a large travel distance... like a nuclear bomb.

Don't know if this problem is related but it IS a concern.
A couple of times now I have logged into the game. I have my Logon point set to my HOME location and that is where I would be. I then fly up and choose the 'Welcome Area' landmark from my Inv. I then choose to FLY there, cause it is cheaper than Teleporting to it. :P

But sadly, I Fly anywhere BUT the Welcome Area! I wind up in all sorts of other locations, usually on other Sims. And the Flight stops as if the code thinks the erroneous location I landed upon /should/ be the main Welcome Area. It is not. I then try again from this /new/ location to get to the Welcome Area, and it gleefully flies me off to yet another random location!

Ironically, all this time I could have my MAP Location Feature turned on, and it is correctly pointing to where the actual Welcome Area coordinates truly are, but I still not able to Fly there automatically. I have to Manually interviene each time to correct for this.
