We feel your pain.
First, if you're using the Emerald viewer, this is a known bug. Reinstallation is said to help. When it happened to me, I installed a newever version and the problem went away. (If you don't know whether you're using Emerald, you're not.)
If you're not using Emerald, try clearing cache (run SL, open Preferences, on the Network tab there's a "clear cache" checkbox or something, enable that, then restart SL. It'll take longer.) Cross your fingers, pray, or perform any other rituals you think might help.
If that doesn't work, you'll need to open a case with LL, and really work on those rituals; maybe make a few sacrifices. Sometimes they can fix it. Sometimes they can't. Sometimes it's somewhere between these two, and it might not happen immediately.
If you don't get it fixed, sometimes you can plead your case to the merchants you've bought things from, and sometimes they'll (a) believe you and (b) take pity and help you out somehow. Since I sell my products copy/no-xfer, I'd redeliver if I found any record of my sales to you (and I started keeping better records starting in 2009). It's a hassle, but it's simpler for me than for those who sell xfer/no-copy, who have to worry about being scammed.
I hope one of the easy solutions works! Good luck.

This happens to me now and then* especially if I'm running several types of viewers and several accounts. Clear cache, log into a quiet sim, wait a few minutes for things to settle down, then do an inventory search - say "A," then "B" or what-have you. Things will come flooding back. If need be, repeat the clear-cache-then-search drill.
*It happened yesterday.

Missing inventory is very seldom an issue that is permenant. All your inventory is stored on LL's servers and it's a rare occurance that the inventory is lost in that data base (though it certainly has happened).
The common and easiest way to try to get the inventory "back" (actually, to get the inventory to load into your cache or viewer........it really never went anywhere to begin with) is to do as Lear suggested. To clear you cache open "Preferrences" under the "Edit" menu. On the "Network" tab click the button "Clear Cache". You'll get a pop up that says your cache will be cleared the next time you start Second Life.....okay that. Then quit SL, wait a few seconds and launch SL again and log in. Once you log in it probably will take a little longer for everything to rez. What I do is open my mini map and watch things rez on it, then when everything in the viewing angle rezzes on the map I turn about 1/4 turn one direction or the other, wait for everything to rez, turn 1/4 again......until the map is fully rezzed with all the objects and green dots. Then open the inventory and check it to see if it's loaded..........it probably will be but in case it's not do a search. Start with the letter "a", wait a bit, then "b", wait.............keep that up untill the inventory count stops. Be patient. Don't tp off, or move around too much, don't open the big map.
Now if all that does not get all your inventory back the next thing to do is the manually delete your cache folder from your hard drive. The folder well be reconstructed when you launch SL after deleting it..........so no harm will be done to the viewer. To find where your cache folder is located on your system go to the the preferrences again. On the network tab you'll see a box that has the path to the cache location just below the clear cache button..........make a note of that location. And then log off. Navigate to the location you noted and delete the folder from your computer. Then log in again............do the same song and dance I discribed above. Expect it to take even longer for things to load this time..........but be patient.
That's a method I've used in the past and it has worked every time. But if these excercises do not work then you may have actually lost the items from the servers (it has happened as I said earlier........but it's a rare thing). If that's the case then you will need to submit a support ticket to LL. I would tell them what you've done on your end so far, so you don't get the generic "clear cache, relog" that would be the most likely response from support.
Hope this helps.

I once lost 2000 items from my inventory, did all LL suggested but in the end they told me it was lost. At the time it happened to me i had two inventory windows open and when i closed one of them the 2000 items went poof, never to return. Needless to say i will never open two windows again. Hope you have better luck than me. If you can't retrieve the items contact some of the vendors and many will be happy to replace them providing you can show proof you contacted support regarding the loss.
