After the latest viewer update I have been experiencing a LOT of problems. Packet loss has been discussed on this forum before, and I do have a lot of it now. Got a faster ISP connection, no help on that. But I still could blame it on my ISP service if there wouldn't be other issues as well.
Lag has been terrible too. Inventory loads really slow when I log in. Most of the time I get the message "your glothing is still downloading..." too. Which usually means I will look like "ruth" for the rest of the time I am in SL, can't change appearance in that shape either, because obviously it says my avatar has not yet loaded. Also late at my evening (I am on GMT+2) other people tend to look like "ruths" too, especially after teleporting to another sim. Sometimes relogging and clearing cache helps, not always though. And it never helps on my own avatar, I still remain as "ruth" even after relogging and clearing cache. It only makes me wait again for my inventory to load.
The lag and packet loss makes it really awful to try to explore, or even go shopping or do anything else but sit on my skybox on my own sim, since everything loads so slow. It is not my computer either, though I could blame it and it's old graphic card, but it works usually just fine during the daytime when there are less people in SL. Slow, but then I can live with it. At evenings it gets just awful.
Lately I have also been having rezzing problems. I have a stall rented, and I have not been able to rez anything there in last 24 hours or so. I have done everything as before, and to my knowledge the owner of the mall has not changed anything either. Also have this problem often at my own land now, fet the "failed" message a lot when I try to rez objects.
All this of course prevents me to have as much fun in SL as I'd like. And makes me spend less time there too, even though right now I'd like to spend more time, just starting up a business and all.
I have done everything I can, clearing my cache daily (usually several times a day), ran a program on my computer to clean it from all possible glutter, got a faster ISP connection, been emptying my inventory a lot (emptying trash makes me crash almost every time though now), tried to avoid too many prim attachments, and usually don't use any kind of AO at all. I know my computer is not the best possible for SL, it is old and it's graphic card is not optimal, but that is something I can't help right now. But it did ran fine enough before the newest viewer release. Especially when I used First Look, my computer just loved First Look, now it has all the same problems I used to have with the official viewer and all the same that I am having wtih the official viewer now.
So, until I am bale to get a brand new computer to run SL with, I am stuck to my old one, but I still can't believe all problems are due to it, since I have read here people with excellent machines are still having problems.
