Update from post below:
It isn't happening anymore, although SL is still down for maintainence. *shrug* odd. Guess it's time to really start looking fora new video card.

Hi,

I was able to log in before the update/changes that took place today. Now I am gettign a message that I havea generic video card and that it is going to cause my computer to run slowly or crash if I try ot continue. When I try to continue, it then pops up an error message that my card isn't supported. Now, I know everything should be working because it worked less than 3 hours ago and worked for months before that with few problems.

These messages popup when the SL client is "detecting hardware". Has anything changed during the update today that would cause this, because it is striking me as awfully odd.

First, what video card do you actually have? You probably could use a better one, but then, everyone could. :)

Second, if you're still seeing the "generic card" message, are you using any kind of third-party driver or desktop management system? If so, try disabling it. SL's driver detection system doesn't seem to like that stuff, though it seems to run fine once you get past that stage.
