Hi,
Posting this query for my SL partner who isn't techie but has been quite upset by this issue.
She's got a duel monitor setup running from an nvidia 8800 card and everything has been fine. She recently updated the drivers okay and even stopped the latest viewer crashing...until today!
She started up SL and it crashed before she even got to the login page but somehow it has taken her primary (left hand) monitor with it. Everything has shifted over to the right one and she's not able to activate the left-hand one at all. Everything is working okay on the right hand monitor and SL has loaded up fine and not given her any problems.
Does anyone have any ideas on the monitor. I am missing a few details from her as I've not been able to talk to her about it but thought I'd drop it in here in case anyone else has had similar issues? I find it hard to believe that SL crashing could have such a major impact.
Thanks in anticipation for any help you can give at this early stage.

i use two monitors quite often and a few people here use three, i'v never had any problems like that, it sounds like the problem might be with your secondary monitor, is it working at all now or does it only break when SL crash's?

As I understand it the monitor is dead...I've not had a chance to speak to her to find out if the power light is on etc. etc. I should be able to find out more details tomorrow. sorry there isn't much more to go on, I was just keen to rule out any connection to SL.

i doubt it was a connection with SL, just bad timing. sounds like the monitor decided to die just at the same time. or perhaps the straw that broke the camels back.
lucky for your girl tho, monitors are pretty cheap these days, i picked up a 19inch second hand monitor for 50AUD over 2 years ago, she's still going strong.

I think you are probably right just terrible timing. She's only had the system a couple of months so at least the monitor will be covered under warranty.
I'll hopefully get the full story this evening.
