I lost my appearance screen!

I was tweaking my appearance this afternoon and had the appearance screen open. I was turning my avatar around using the arrow keys and all of the sudden my appearance screen disappeared. I logged out and back on and still no appearance screen. I can right-click appearance and I can still turn my avatar around but there's no appearance screen there.

My husband had the same problem with his avatar too (on the same computer).

We even rebooted the computer with no luck.

I'm hoping I just stupidly hit the wrong button or something.

Check the edges of your screen for windows... maybe it got bumped off to the edge somehow.

At worst, you might try re-installing SL if you can't find a solution to the problem.

Good luck =)

If the problem is in the settings.ini file, reinstalling SecondLife won't fix it.

A couple things you can try:

A) The hard way:
1) Find the "settings.ini" file in the "SecondLife" application data folder.
2) Open it in Notepad
3) Find the line that begins with FloaterCustomizeRect
4) Change it to "FloaterCustomizeRect 0 228 482 540", but without the quotes

No promises. Since I'm not experiencing this problem, I can't verify that this will fix it.

B) The easy way:
1) Find the "settings.ini"file
2) Delete it
If you do this, you'll have to set your preferences back to the way you want them, and suffer through the "learn your way around the UI" dialogs again.

Thanks to both of you for the suggestion.

Carnildo Greenacre, I tried your first suggestion and it worked like a charm. :)

Glad to hear it! :)

What happened was that somehow the appearance window got moved far enough off-screen that it wasn't showing up at all, and then, since SecondLife saves the window positions, it was staying off-screen.
