why did you whent to 260 prims i still know int he old days that it was around 475 so why lower i cant even build nice stuff now

The link limit has been 255 prims for as long as I have been in SL, and that is about three years. Never heard of a time when it was higher.

I can build nice things in 10 prims and less. My favorites are the 1-prim lamp and stool. Can you please describe the actual problem you're having? Maybe we can help. (^_^)y

The reason for a linked prim limit is realtively simple. It prevents overload to the storage matrix.

What's more, if you rezzed say a huge linked build in one go, which grossly went over the land/parcel object limit or boundary, it would potentially stall the sim server, while it tried to figure out which prims to remove/return.
