This is for both WindLight and the basic client.

Widescreen monitor running in 1680x1050 pixels.

Anyway, running a 6700 for ages now, some time after I picked up my new monitor I started, just really rarely, getting situations where my monitor would shut down completely and stop responding while in Second Life. It would then come back after a few minutes and Second Life would crash saying that there was an Error in the C Basic Library or something like that. I sent in a few crash reports linked to this error. Anyway, it continued to be a common thing, at least once sometimes twice a week.

Now however, I get complete and total computer freeze, starting a few days ago, while on Second Life, forcing me to hard reboot my computer. After reinstalling Second Life and a completely refresh reinstall of my drivers as well as purchasing a brand new graphics card (a 6200 as I originally thought my graphics card had gone bad) I've found that I still have the same problem, although now what happens is it starts to lock up, Windows reboots itself and restores saying that the card was unable to complete drawing and forced a restart.

I immediately crash when logging into Second Life now. I can only assume that the issue is either in the fact that the 6000 series doesn't work well in wide screen resolutions or Second Life + 6000 series cards + wide screen doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

6600GT works fine here

check to see if vbo is on inside of SL, altho this usually wont cause the problems your describing

also have you tried any other card heavy 3d programs to see if they act up?

also look inside of your case, is there a tiny fan next to your large cpu fan? alot of mainboards slap a cheap small (30mm?) pos fan on the northbridge chipset, which will clog up and burn out, which turns the cooling device into a nice HEATER, and that will play all kinds of hell with anything connected to it (like the rest of the computer heh)

Update to the latest .NET Framework, that should cure the runtime library error.
