Unknown vorbis encode failure

I tried uploading a .wav file thru the bulk option, but I keep getting an "Unknown vorbis encode failure on: c:\song.wav".

Anybody have any suggestions on what I should do? I've already tried saving the .wav file as PCM. The song is about 2 minutes long. I've tried doing the same thing on another computer, but it also got the same error.

The wav should be 44.1KHz, preferably mono, and less than 10 seconds in length.

On the other hand, don't worry... 1.4 gives direct streaming from web sources, w00t!

I'm trying to upload a bulk wav file that's longer than 10 seconds.

hrm...

if any individual file is longer, it'll fail.
if not, I dunno why ...

Well someone gave me a scripted object that plays a 5 minute song when clicked on. The original maker of the object must have been able to somehow upload a full length song there.

nope

the creator would need to split the song into segments of less than 10 seconds each, upload them all seperately, and use a script to play them in sequence so it sounds like they're on file. Sometimes it even works!

But very rarely. :p

King, the vorbis encode failure, I know from experience, is the message you get when you try to upload a snippet 10 seconds or longer, if you're using bulk upload. (And there's a bug in the calculation, too. I've uploaded a 9.5s snippet before and gotten that error.)

Other causes of the error are as indicated by Siobhan, it MUST be a sample rate of 44kHz, although it can be either 8- or 16-bit, and either mono or stereo. Most people do 8-bit mono to decrease file size.
