grey sceen when it's busy

I've just joined second life and I'm having a slight problem. If it's busy the whole screen starts flickering with grey triangular shapes and I can't see what's going on, it can get so bad that I literally can't see a thing but a grey screen. However it's fine if I'm on an island where there isn't many people. Could someone please help me resolve this problem? Anyone else had this problem?
