I have an ATI Radeon 8500L video card and I'm having an issue with wierd graphics.
Pink, purple and green patterns of tiny squares keep appearing on the walls, floors and windows within SL. I usually see them within close distances. I tried updating the drivers to the newest catalyst but I'm still experiencing the prob. Now even others can see a strange pink pattern across my avie's face. These patterns don't appear until maybe ten minutes after logging into SL.
I have Windows XP. Removing programs that are up and running behind SL does not seem to help the problem. Any suggestions?

I used to have that problem. It's ATI's fault for not being good with OpenGL.
Turn off AGP Acceleration, and make your texture mrmory size less than 512.
Sometimes lowering your vid memory helps too.

Thanks Lordfly... But that still didn't work Now I'm seeing people with brown and red heads along with the green and red patches of patterns all over the screen and all over me! I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest catalyst again but still the same thing. Anymore Suggestions you guys? Any and all posts welcome.

Hmm.
It might be that the card might be overheating/shot/in danger of failing.
I'm not too good on that stuff, though... anyone know how to test for sure?

Definitely overheating. Mine does that until I stick a household fan up to the side of the open case. Man, time for a new PC. I might suggest checking your power supply fand, CPU fan and/or graphics card fan.

(my video card screws up vector locations when it overheats; so it really stretches messes funny when it does)
i have a fan from the power supply of an old Mac IIcx blowing air on my air on the video card heat sink. Got an identical one cooling the CPU (P4). They are very noisy fans but good quality.

Hmm,
Well I know it couldn't be my power supply fan. I just had my entire power supply replaced a few months ago. Someone else suggested that it was the fan overheating so I opened the system and cleared the heat sink of dust... Still have the same prob. I've had the card for about a year and a half. I think the card is probably dying and time to replace it. What do you think?
Someone mentioned that it could be CPU fan? Really??
