Hi everyone, I'm writing because the last 4 days I have been dealing with problems regarding SL. The main issue is that I keep receiving this 2 messages each time that I've tried to log in... "We're having trouble connecting. There may be a problem with your internet connection or the Second Life servers. You can either check your internet connection and try again in a few minutes, click Help to connect to our support site, or click Teleport to attempt to teleport home." Or... "You have been logged out of Second Life. You have been disconnected from the region you were in" I unninstalled SL and restore it after 1 hour but the problem remained. I still don't know whats happening, I have been playing this game for almost two years and every 4 months (or less) this problem comes back and then goes, I'm getting tired of this so I was wondering if someone can help me or guide me about this annoying problem. Beforehand... I'll thank you with all my heart .

I forgot to say that each time I managed to get connected (about 4 times in 4 days) I teleported and crashed, and the connecting issue will start again...
I hope that someone -a very kind person- will help me after reading this (I've seen other threats without answer) because the problem it's getting on my nerves quite strongly (I'm about to kick my computer lol).

I've gotten both messages in the past. In fact I still them on occassion. I've fixed the problem each time by resetting my router and modem. So, if you are having the same problem I have on occassion unplug your modem and router (if you have one) from the electrical source and leave them unplugged for at least 3 minutes. Plug back in and when the lights settle down (about 30 seconds for most modems and routers) try logging in again.
But, you must know after being in SL for 2 years that the error messages sometimes don't relate to the same problems as others have had. If that doesn't work for you come back and give us a little more information about your system and what viewer you are using.

ATI Radeon on Windows by any chance? This sounds like a problem I've come across several times before, but without a complete question, I'm having to make a blind stab. http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html#beprecise

I tried what you told me about unplugging my router but it didn't work (I even restarted my computer while the router was unplugged but it din't work *sob*), I also forgot to tell you that I've tried to connect to SL mostly at night (I always play at night), but sometimes (since this problem started again) I tried in the morning and afternoon and sometimes it worked (I got connected but when I teleported I crashed). I don't know anything about viewers but I can say that my computer works with Windows Angelical system and that I use an NVidia board (for graphics and stuff). Well SL still isn't working... I'm kind of tired of this problem I wish I knew were the problem is but I also hope that someone out there can guide me and help find the solution for this issue. Thanks for your kind answers .

"Windows Angelical"?
What is that?
A problem that varies with time of day could be a problem on your ISP's end of things.
Are you using a wireless connection? You could have a neighbor that runs an interfering device only at certain times.
You can find some of the info about your system in the SL Help menu's About Second Life option, and you can copy and paste the text from there.

From: Anaeli DuCasse I can't connect at night, I'm sure now... it's so strange. can someone explain why does this happen? When you are able to connect to SL, and you go to Start > Run > cmd and then at the prompt, type ping -n 10 secondlife.com, how do the results compare to when you can't connect? When you're having problems with SL, are you also having problems with other sites?

I just started having the same issue tonight, getting the same error message...
And I also use the same NVidia card too.. Could it be something to do with that?

And I also use the same NVidia card too.. Could it be something to do with that? I can't find where the OP or anyone has stated which video card is being used. NVidia is a brand of card. There are two major graphics cards producers (there are others but these are to "big dogs" at the moment)..........nVidia and ATI. But the actual card used within any brand is important. Nothing has been said in that reqard. If you could tell us which nVidia card you are using it might help. You can go to your device manager to find out the specific card and driver version you are using. Since there is someone here on this forum that loves to point out that my suggestions are only Windows specific........I must say that my suggestion for finding your card and driver IS Windows specific. If you are using another operating system someone else will have to tell you how to find it.

I didn't mention anything about video hardware, nor have I heard anything about that in this thread except for someone similarly confused. You might consider clicking the Quote button on the post that you're actually replying to, and keep the part of the quote you're referring to intact.
