Hi there,

I've just joined up to second life - hello everyone! I have a laptop, just bought in December, which is running VIA / S3G Unichrome Pro IGP card. I'm told this card isnt supported. My question is is there anything I can do - change my laptop card etc - which will help?

Suggestions very welcome!

Thanks x

It is hard to say. The two most common pretty good graphics cards are

NVIDIA 7xxx or better
ATI 1600 or better.

Actually, you could do OK with older ATI or NVIDIA cards, but the 7600 and 1600 are sort of the common ground these days.

Good luck.

Well I have the same problem with my home computer, but with a different Video Card.. My question is, why can't SL have a patch for those people who don't have the exact card... The card I have is a Savage, meant for gaming, so I don't understand why it can't be compatiable with it...

Sorry Laptop cannot be upgraded with newer video cards, without some serious work and electronic degree, as it would require alot of work , when a desktop is just a card switch away, hense why you should never buy one for gaming ever.

"why can't SL have a patch for those people who don't have the exact card"

Cause those cards cannot even run the instructions SL wants to use to draw things, when it ask those vid card they cannot do it and blargs out crashing, so no theres never going to be a patch for it.

I've been running a unsupported INTEL card for a couple of years with no problems. Just depends I guess.
