Hi can anyone tell me if the Nvidia 175.17 drivers for the 8000 and 900 series cards are the same for a given OS?

yes, the driver version is the difference
nvidia releases X driver it handles all the cards they currently support, which is almost all but the legacy cards (ie geforce 2 gts or earlier)
