Problem is, nothing will open it.
It's 57 seconds, 2 gigs in size, and has an .avi file name.
Why can't I open it? Adobe Premiere won't, winamp won't, windows media player won't...
Help?

Ok, so I started recording a spur-of-the-moment thing in SL... uncompressed windows file, I think.

It could be a broken file, or possibly (though not very likely) it could've been encoded in a format for which you have an encoder, but not a decoder.
You should get GSpot. It will tell you if your file is broken, what codec it needs and if your system can play it or not. You can use VirtualDub to recode it into something smaller, using a codec like XviD. Or you can use FRAPS to capture the video, instead of the SL builtin tools. It has the advantage of being very fast and it's able to capture audio as well. |

Well, it definitely says it's corrupt, which baffles me because it was just a raw dump to the hard drive...
Any way to fix it? LF _____________________

Depending on how corrupt it is, VirtualDub might be able to fix it. Or not. You say it's 2 GB in size, so maybe it was just cut off due to FAT file size restrictions. Check if the partition you recorded on is NTFS, and if not do (at your own risk):
CODE convert <driveletter>: /fs:ntfs |

Due to a bug in the VFW capture interface, standard AVI files have a 2GB limit. If you want to capture bigger files than this you should use another format, like AVI2 (OpenDML).
