I was in Bel's new digs on the dance floor. I pulled an object from inventory onto the floor. When I tried to attach it, I took massive damage (50%) and the object disappeard, with my cash. I did this a couple more times thinking the objects were nearby (as in, fallen through the floor), before I started thinking about the cash going away at an alarming rate I went downstairs, pulled another from inventory and the object attached fine. There was no sign of the other three objects. Charlie suggested that maybe they warped. I searched the sim for my objects, but they weren't there. Could I have built up energy somehow so that when I moved to attach the item it disintegrated? I'm out another $60 Could I find another type of bug next time? These money ones hurt

It was a non-physical scripted object. My magic wand.

I've spent another $50 investigating this My wand has an llSetDamage() and I learned today that items with this set automatically die after colliding with an AV (as an undocumented feaure). Apparently when I went to attach them, I bumped into them while approaching to attach. The bug here, is that money is not being refunded when the objects die. So, while we now know why my object disappeared and caused me damage in the process, there is still the bug that money is not being refunded when the object dies. I further tested this by putting llSetDamage(1.0) in a new script on a new box. The money does not return to you when the box dies after you bump into it. I would appreciate a Linden replying to this thread. I would like to know if this is the intended behavior for objects which do damage to AVs (the not returning money part) or if I have found a bug. I'm thinking this is a bug, because it penalizes objects which do less damage per collision (you lose money for each one, less damage implies more money spent hitting more times) and also there is currently one person I could likely bankrupt in the game because of this behavior. (He has automatic targetting guns, he like you to /clap for him.) Lastly, while I have income these days, $110 lost identifying this bug is still a significant amount.
