IM session errors, getting annoying now.

For the past few days I get a pop-up telling me 'Unable to start a new session with (insert a group name here). The session no longer exists'. This is despite the fact I haven't started a chat session and sometimes it occurs for groups I haven't spoken in for days.

Viewer is up to date and any fix is welcomed.

Days, try weeks for some groups.

Very annoying when a message needs to be sent out fast for some reason.

Even more annoying when much larger groups I am in have no problem but the ones with less people seems to never work. Or once last night worked long enough for me and 1 other to each put in 2 lines then it died again.

Yeah this has been happeneing to me. Someone mentioned clearing group cache in the advanced menu but that didn't seem to help me. I have also been getting double IMs from people sometimes.
Like this

Mary Bing: Yes, I know
Mary Bing: Yes, I know

Weird.
The double IMs I mean. I'm sure Mary Bing is a very nice person.

The double messages are when they send one, they get the "Can't send the message, try again later" popup. So they send the message again and the new one pushes the first one through too.

Is this really the only forum thread about this issue? I can't find another. Virtually all my groups have gone silent due to the extreme increase in occurrence of this bug. The JIRA for it, which hasn't been responded to by a Linden for over a year, is here:
http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-1509

A response by a Linden is dearly requested. The natives are getting restless.

I had this problem too. For one group I had to leave the group and re-add. For another group that did'nt work so I sent a trouble ticket to support and they had to fix it, it was effecting the whole group.

Did your trouble ticket actually fix it?

The main group I am in that this is effecitng hte owner put in a ticket last night but I have yet to find out how it went.

I am also following the JIRA and last night there was easily 10 more posts put onto it for this listing more and more groups effected.

Ummmm.... to be exact... try a year, possibly more. Actually, in my experience it has gotten a litte better in the last few month but is of course sill unacceptable.
A friend speculated that the reason for this is that the system can't handle the ever increasing number of people on SL. Since about half of those people are bots and Linden Labs is finally taking some steps to reduce bots, the broken group chat MIGHT be on a course to being fixed.

Wow, I go away and come back and suddenly people!:D I'm glad to know I'm not alone, though I have found out through some of the affected groups that it seems to be when a group reaches a certain size? 7Seas is affected, some of the hunt groups too and there's a vote ongoing to try and get LL to sort the problem out, with comments going back two years!

It's preventing posts going through for me now, so when people mention it I can't actually reply to say I'm experiencing the same thing.

I'm not sure opening a ticket will have a result right now:(

Here's the issue in the votes section for those interested.

Not just groups hitting a certain size I am in one group witn over 1500 people that has no issues, then one with around 50 that cant talk at all most of the time. When it can it dies after 3 or 4 messages sent.

That's even more confusing that no one can pinpoint the cause. I have noticed that I seem to get less incidences of the pop-up if I leave one group chat open, but that's a ridiculous way to do it and I'm not sure if the fix is simply my imagination or luck...

I might add that within hours of days of my first encountering this a good friend starting getting the same error, when previously they had no chat problems other than the normal lag.

Still happening. Bah! Is there at least a way to kill the pop-up notification. It's very annoying when you're trying to inventory sort and it stops you from doing anything until it's closed.
